Next event: Friday, June 13th, 2008 Discover the culture of the Shona people of Zimbabwe through traditional music, dance and songs! This event is a celebration of community through live drumming, free dancing and chanting, in the spirit of an African village. Jacky Essombe will inspire you to dance or play music with your family, your friends and your community. It is also a unique opportunity to share the traditions and culture of our guest artist, and allow your body to shake , your heart to sing and your spirit to vibrate with the power of the music we create together! Come experience the joyful spirit of Africa!

They too belong to this community Where: Victoria Drive Community Hall – 2026 East 43rd avenue(at Victoria drive) Cost: $12 per person/$20 per couple - $5 per child 6 to 12. **Yummy homemade ginger juice will be available to purchase** All you need to do is show up, leave the rest to us. Bring your drum or shaker if you have one, and play with us. We will close the evening with African chanting. This is an alcohol free and worry free event! PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO IMAGNARA EVENT IN JULY AND AUGUST. WE WILL RESUME AFTER THE SUMMER BREAK, ON SEPTEMBER 12TH.
Schedule: 7 pm – Doors open - drum practice if you are new to this art, or simply warm up if you are more experienced. 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm: Drum Circle – led by Billy 8:30 pm to 9 pm: Singing and creating rhythms together. 9 pm to 10:30 pm: Kurai Mubaiwa! Play along with our guest or just dance, it’s up to you. Enjoy the culture of the SHONA people of Zimbabwe through music, singing and dancing. 10:30 pm to 11 pm: Chanting (traditional African songs)

The Imagnara evening is an invitation to create a tribe together, dancing, drumming and chanting in unison. Let’s keep the tradition. To create a tribe we need everybody there. Without you, the tribe is not complete. I look forward to seeing you on the Second Friday of EVERY month, with the entire family!
If you have never experienced the power of a drum circle before, then you absolutely want to join the circle at 7:30 pm. You will amaze yourself! Or simply come to dance your heart of! Everybody is a dancer. We welcome you in the dance circle, in the loving embrace of your community.
